Merino Wool, Mulberry Silk & Cotton Scarf
This beautiful scarf was hand-woven with Merino wool, Mulberry silk and handspun (khadi) locally grown cotton in contrasting shades of white, gray and black. The two materials and colors combine in big squares, creating a beautiful texture and contrast. The mix of materials allow this scarf to be warm and soft, and yet very light. The open fringed borders give them an extra-cozy look and feeling. Perfect for women and men alike!
The width of this piece allows it to be worn as a scarf wrapped around the neck or as a shawl over the shoulders.
This piece was designed by Geeta Patil and produced in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, in the context of the Gudi Mudi Khadi Project from WomenWeave. Gudi Mudi means "scrunched" in the local language, a perfect word to describe the attractive natural look and texture of the textiles produced from this project. The Gudi Mudi Project skills highly marginalized women in the spinning and weaving of locally grown cotton.
