Mulberry Silk & Cotton Shawl

116.00 CHF

This beautiful and elegant shawl was hand-woven with Mulberry silk and handspun (khadi) locally grown cotton in shades of gray, black and red. The two materials and colors combine in big squares and stripes with different shades and shine, creating a beautiful texture and play with light.

The width of this piece allows it to be worn as a scarf wrapped around the neck or as a long shawl over the shoulders.

This piece was designed by Geeta Patil and produced in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, in the context of the Gudi Mudi Khadi Project from WomenWeave. Gudi Mudi means "scrunched" in the local language, a perfect word to describe the attractive natural look and texture of the textiles produced from this project. The Gudi Mudi Project skills highly marginalized women in the spinning and weaving of locally grown cotton.
