Cotton & Tussar Silk Scarf

53.00 CHF

This beautiful scarf was hand-woven with handspun locally grown cotton in natural cream and wild raw Tussar silk. The two materials combine to form narrow stripes in half of the scarf and wider stripes in the other half, creating a beautiful effect as it is wrapped around your neck or shoulders. The stripes are woven with alternate degrees of tightness and thickness, creating waves of transparency and rich texture. The scarf is finished with a sewn hem.

The width of this piece allows it to be worn as a scarf wrapped around the neck or as a shawl over the shoulders.

This piece was designed by Geeta Patil and produced in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, in the context of the Gudi Mudi Khadi Project from WomenWeave. Gudi Mudi means "scrunched" in the local language, a perfect word to describe the attractive natural look and texture of the textiles produced from this project. The Gudi Mudi Project skills highly marginalized women in the spinning and weaving of locally grown cotton.
